Many happy (belated) returns to [livejournal.com profile] st_crispins!

And now, for something entirely different.

Why is it that all of the really good ideas come when you're taking a shower?

I don't meant that in a pervy way. But I now have some good ideas to incorporate into my paper rewrite. The lovely thing about my consumerism class is that I can put my normally useless knowledge of 60's spy shows to use.

I am being really inconsistent about replying to messages and such; this second round of midterms have turned me into a procrastinating workaholic, if that makes any sense. (I know it probably doesn't. But I've done all of the reading for 3 out of 4 classes for the rest of the semester, which I'd like to think counts for something.) Once I turn in this paper on Thursday, I swear I will get better about the social niceties.

Yes! I'm mystified by the shower phenomenon. For me, it's gotten to the point where I have to take a shower before I can write an essay - and sometimes several times during - just to get my mind on track.

Same here — I'm also getting to the point where I have to take a shower if I'm going to write a paper to get ideas and then figure out how to phrase them.

I feel the same way about showers. The cleansing action, the soothing sound of running water, and the isolation all work together to create a modern form of meditation. Often I'll shower right before I have to do something, as it calms my nerves and centers me.

Of course, the best showers are the ones shared ;) Goodluck on your midterms.

Somehow it feels like you're working with a clean slate after purifying yourself, and then the ideas can flow freely.

Thanks; I've got two more papers to write by Monday and then three more, a final and a project after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, very true. You'd be surprised at how many of my entries are the result of my shower-loving tendencies. If I'm stuck on a paper or a particular topic I'll take a shower to clear my head. Plus, I love walking around the house in a towel *grin*.

What're your papers on?

The one for Monday's on exchange in Mansfield Park. The others are harder to explain, but they're:

-examples of social psychology phenomena in real life
-more Mansfield Park — actualy, I can't quite remember the topic
-the relationship between the form of writing and content

It's nothing terribly interesting, I'm afraid.
