a sort of do it yourself dreadful affair

I've managed to set up the ultimate computer desk *without* using any tools. OK, so the surface is actually slanted so you can't put anything that might roll off on top, but I think it's supposed to be that way. It reminds me of my old piano teacher's piano whose keys were set at a ~15 degree angle or so because such an arrangement supposedly made you play faster. I've adjusted the desk so that it's low enough to be rolled underneath my bed, which is rather nifty.
(I'll shut up with the cheesy MfU references now :P)
There have been on average two fire alarms going off each week, once early in the morning and once at night at random intervals. The morning ones always strike when I'm finally able to sleep in for once, too; that alarm always goes off in the dorm complex right next to mine for nearly an hour and a half straight. Would it be that hard to schedule the drills to be the week *after* midterms? Not only that, but construction's been going nonstop on the Galen Center across the street in hopes that it will open on schedule 9 days from now. You can tell that it's midterm time when the lines to get food anywhere on campus seem to be the same length no matter what time of day (ah, the midnight study snack break). It's amazing to see how much sugar and caffeine students will consume.
And as much as I love my family, I wish that parents' weekend would come after I'm done with exams and papers because I keep having to rearrange everything on my schedule on a daily basis to squeeze in dinner. Still, it will be lovely seeing them again tomorrow, and thankfully my psych midterm has been pushed back so that the exam doesn't fall on the same day as the one for my consumerism class.

Date: 2006-10-16 02:41 am (UTC)college apps are Progressing. this, i think, is about as good a status as i could hope for with the wretched things. the stanford app...all 24 pages of it with their PERSONAL STANFORD MAILING LABELS>...needs liposuction. it has a clinical obesity problem.
if paper can be obese, that is.
